UT116 Metate Arch

I have visited this unique and delicate arch in the Devil's Garden numerous times near the southern Utah town of Escalante. However, on this particular trip I learned how to pronounce the name correctly and found it is named after the Indian tool and flat stone with an indentation for holding maize to be ground. So apparently, this arch looks to some like a metate. In this photograph, I tried to simplify the arch as much as possible, eliminating trees and other near-by sites but including the muted color of the sunset.
